Dear Anon,
This may not be necessarily true. But it depends on the overall context.
1. If it is a tall cabinet and it blocks the windows or ventilation (especially) if it is on the same wall as an external wall.
2. It is quite normal for a bedroom to have a cabinet for clothings etc.. It can be a built in (full height / to the ceiling) cabinet.
3. Like evertying else, `moderation' is the best. 
One should not have too many furniture in the room. Normally, a `decent' cabinet plus a study table or a dressing table is acceptable.
4. Ideally, tall furniture should not appear on an `island' in the room but placed along a wall.
