Topic: What type of flowers to grow on the balcony

Your advice would be appreciated.
I have a round (semi-circle) balcony facing the main windows (sliding doors) and main door of my apartment. It is all in the SE, which is supposedly a good direction for me.
I am planning on decorating it with flowers and patio furniture. Any thoughts on what kind of flowers/colors I should use?
Directly facing my balcony is a small courtyard and other apartments.
