Dear Tina,

A warm welcome to you:)

1. Under Compass School Feng Shui; (especially Flying Star Feng Shui) one can either take readings based on the building or an individual apartment like your house.

2. However, under the Eight House Theory or East/West Group of persons; usually the orientation is taken from the centre-point of your individual apartment to the main entrance door.

3. You can view this url:-

https://www.geomancy.net/resources/art/art-cecilcompass.htm

to confirm how to take compass readings from the centre-point of your individual unit.

4. Please note that the above method(s) are based on the use of an ordinary compass.

5. In Feng Shui, if one knows how to use the Chinese Luopan; the readings is based on the `sitting' position and facing (frontage) of the house. As you have mentioned, it could be the main entrance or the location where the windows at the frontage are. But usually, this is done (best) by a competent FS practitioner. If you are using method (Para 5).

6. Otherwise, you should follow the advice mentioned under Para 3 (above).

7. Yes, it is considered inauspicious for the main entrance door to face the bathroom. Yes you can place a partition or screen. The screen need not necessarily be of full height.

If you place a tall piece of furniture, it should be as tall as the height of the toilet door. Lower than that is not advisable.

Warmest Regards,
Cecil
